About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting young
people to achieve their goals and build brighter futures?
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and relationship-focused Employment and
Education Mentor to join our Transition to Work (TtW) team.
In this rewarding role, you'll support young people aged 15–24 to sustain
employment and education outcomes through ongoing mentoring, coaching, and
practical support. You’ll work closely with employers, training providers, and
community partners to help young people overcome barriers, remain engaged, and
achieve long-term success.
This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young
people while building strong community and employer partnerships across your
region.
You’ll be Responsible for:
- Providing post-employment and post-education mentoring and support to young people
- Maintaining regular contact with participants to support retention and successful outcomes
- Working collaboratively with employers and training providers to address challenges and build sustainable pathways
- Supporting young people who may be at risk of disengaging from employment or education
- Conducting workplace visits and wellbeing check-ins
- Building and maintaining relationships with local employers, businesses, and industry partners
- Promoting the Transition to Work program and identifying new employment opportunities
- Collecting and maintaining accurate participant records, evidence, and compliance documentation
- Contributing to positive participant outcomes and achievement of contractual targets
About You
You’re passionate about helping young
people achieve their potential and thrive on building meaningful relationships
with participants, employers, and community stakeholders.
You bring empathy, resilience, and a strengths-based approach, combined with
the ability to balance participant support, stakeholder engagement, and
administrative responsibilities.
You will bring:
- Experience in youth employment, mentoring, education support, community services, or related fields
- Experience supporting young people facing barriers to education, training, or employment
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to motivate, engage, and support diverse young people
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Confidence working towards targets and participant outcomes
- Experience using Microsoft Office and case management or data systems
- Current Working with Children Check, National Police Check, and Victorian Driver’s Licence
Bonus points if you have:
- Qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, Employment Services, or a related discipline
- Experience within Transition to Work, Workforce Australia, or other government-funded programs
- Experience in employer engagement, business development, or workforce planning
